The Penny Rings

Well I made 2 rings (Carved out of wax, now cast into silver.) The one on the right is the first one, the newer one is the one I think I'll get molded and recast. I need to adjust the area for the penny to allow for 5 percent shrinkage. Right now these are silver models, so they aren't polished or antiqued. The little cup on top will be a bezel for a stone, maybe a blue topaz.

I'm sure I must have asked you this before, but the knowledge is not in my head, so I'll ask again.

How long does it take you to create something like this, start-to-finish?

lol. the wax carving may take a few days. sometimes i get to a certain point, then set it aside and do something else for a while. that helps me to get new eyes on it. then clean up of the silver varies. an hour to half a day. this may take longer as i want to make sure its right. (i obsess sometimes!)

But the castings from the mold made won't take anywhere near that amount of time. just maybe an hour of soldering in the penny, clean polish and set stone.

I am enjoying seeing the progress. I still can't get my head around how you go from a cast to the silver model. So cool!

I am so in love with this ring. What a unique design, I have never seen anything like this before. It is so on my wish list!!! Let me know when its finished and up in the shop.

Considering the initial time investment for carving what price point will you go with on something like this? Oh & will you take into account the penny ;-)
