Change Potential

Here's my latest scoop off the streets of Providence, Rhode Island. I've babbled on in this blog before on the lottery and how I feel about the way our government, "we," choose to raise money... How I feel its an underhanded tax on dreams and desire for a better life... How I feel it feeds off those most in need of such fantasy, the poor... But I also have to admit this is fun. The money I scoop off the streets wouldn't pay a bill. It would buy bubble gum, but I'm not into bubble gum. It wouldn't even run a load of wash in the local laundry mat. But one thing it does is make walking down the street a bit entertaining and subversive. It can buy a lottery ticket.

Oh. I didn't win. NPR, you have to keep waiting for my donation, sorry.

I think that's a great way to play the lottery!
Hope one day you hit the jackpot, (hoping I do, too!) and can give that donation to NPR!

It would wash the clothes in our coin op machine but sadly not dry them. Nice booty score though! People laugh at me all the time for not only picking up but saving change (yes I know people who actually throw out pennies...what is WRONG with that picture when they are complaining about not being able to pay bills later? Um, hello!). One year I actually went on vacation with just my change money (plane ticket only, no hotel or otherwise but still!). You win every day picking up found money :)

That's a heck of a good haul! I often find money, but I guess I'm not as dedicated as you. You seem to have found a way to gather in much more on a walk than I do. Or, perhaps, the folks in Providence have more holes in their pockets than the folks in Boston???

I think you're right though. I highly doubt rich people play the lottery!

Well, its the takings from more than one walk! But, Boston does seem to have less loose cash than Providence.

I do think this is one positive aspect to all the cell phones being pulled out of pockets... or that's my hypothesis and I'm stickin' to it!
