Muttering Meditations, Pendantic

There is a difference between self expression and self obsession, and it is not even esoteric in definition. I looked at a clip of the below artist, and though the clip was about 2 minutes and 40 seconds, I got bored. I thought about the ballet dancers in the clip and that my lack of appreciation had to do with this demanding art form used in such a trivial fashion... but it bored me. I thought about self obsession being a part of the end result of capitalist society... how being advertised to and receiving information through the reductive quality of advertisement would lend itself to such cultural self obsession... but it's boring. Sometimes I think intense naval gazing blinds a whole culture to the huge abyss between self expression and self obsession. And the inescapable fact that, self obsession is mind numbingly dull. I'm sure this lady is a decent person, but I'm totally not interested.

And here's a pic of my lady of the wax, slowly emerging.

well it takes a certain type of mind to understand self expression through art and contemporary performance art. That's what she's doing. It's not "me me ME!! LOOK AT ME!!!!!!!!!". She's an artist as a performer. A LOT of people do this stuff, but it's not showcased in the news, they're not famous. It's performance art. Marilyn Manson does the same thing. A lot of other entertainers also adopt an image as a role, but it's not as obvious.

you don't need to understand art sometimes. Just let it be. ;)

i'm totally aware lady gaga is a preformance artist. i just find her profoundly boring. lol.

obviously many people like her. and i have tried to listen to her music. it's boring. and as oddly as she dresses, it bores me. lol. oddly enough, i don't even find her irritating. i've heard she does a good interview though.

Your lady has a nice Egyptian look to her.

You post about as often as I do, Chris -- not often enough!

Does this mean I should stop wearing antlers if I want people to take me seriously? :)

Loved the very depth of this post...sometimes the most shallow and boring things give us fuel to ponder with. LOL

Your lady is lovely and she is going to be a real beauty when finished.
