The Persistent Life of a Small Bonsai

Or at least, I don't think the Bonsai is dead yet. Last summer I gave up on worrying about this thing. I do fine with plants that that are outdoors, plants that can survive fairly well with benign neglect. The tag on this plant when I got it said to do all these things to it, (forget what,) and that it needs temperatures between 50 to 70 degrees F. It has been where it is now, hiding behind a rose bush outside, since last summer. *I live in Rhode Island. That little thing spent the winter outside.*

I feel like I should reward this plant somehow by transplanting it. Or something. Weeding around it?

And here is the lid, cast into bronze. *It's been cleaned, but not polished or antiqued.* It looks big on the glass, but I made it with about 5% shrinkage calculated in in case I decided to mold it.

I have been worrying about my poinsettia (Pointy, fo some minor fame from a Christmas story I wrote a while back...) Anyway, I put him out in the yard to get some sun prior to his annual getting planted for four months and enjoying the summer/fall outdoors, and it rained buckets. His pot filled with water and I didn't notice it for a day. Too much water will cause root rot for a poinsettia, and I'm afraid I may not have gotten to him in time. We'll see. I've got him drying as best he can in the bright sun...

I am impressed by both of you. Nothing in a pot is living once i am through with it regardless if i attempt to keep it that way or not. Plants commit suicide in my honor. Sigh. The bonsai is looking good, maybe it is perfectly content just where it is...???

Love the box, is this for the wedding?

i'm rooting for Pointy!

I am so horrible with plants so congratulations in having one with some green leaves on it! :) My dad always hates going with me to buy plants, because he says I am going to kill them within a week.

I love plants that require little care. So much more to do in life.

The box is beautiful in bronze.

Thanks! Good to see you around Michelle.

Yes, I think that Bonsai needs a medal of some sort. I had to laugh when you said it spent the winter outside.

The box lid is stunning. The receiver is going to be truly happy.
